Current Projects
Cell phone Siemens S75 as a on-board brain for small robot, made of toy car.
For this project we use Java/SWING software.
It is possible to see, where the robot is going, using our Java/SWING software.
Our client application installed on KNOPPIX and it uses Linux Bluetooth stack.
There is sub-version of this project, where we use re-constructed RC toy Spy Robot.
With this project user can not only drive the robot, but also capture and move small things,
like ping-pong ball.
Old Projects
Cell phone Siemens C65 as an on-board brain for small robot, made of toy car.
With this project it was possible to send pictures,
captured on the phone right to the Web server in the Internet.
Siemens C65 has limited connectivity. No Bluetooth at all.
And the only way to get images from it was GPRS/Internet connection.
Now we stopped this way of transfer images because of several reasons:
1) It worked too slow
2) It is not free. You always pay for data transfer
3) You should have your own server in the Internet,
which can receive images from the phone and send commands back to the phone
Web camera on a hand-made platform.
Platform was made of old CD-ROM drive.
By the way - pay attention to old computer components with moving parts.
Old CD-ROMs, old floppy disk drivers contains a lot of useful parts.
You can find there small motors of any kind - steppers, etc.
With this project it was possible to rotate moving part of platform
clockwise or contra-clockwise, using Java software.
All hardware was done by my son. He was 13 at that time.
For this project we used GCC/GCJ for Windows and SWT Java GUI from IBM.
Also we used PortTalk driver for access to Windows ports.
As I see from the statistics of my server
Firefox2 wins over the MS Internet Explorer.
At least my users prefer Firefox.
